After a successful career driving race cars in the UK, (which included a British Championship), Mike parlayed his experience as an aircraft structures design engineer at British Aerospace into work as a Senior Designer on the IndyCar program at LOLA CARS. His time at LOLA then led to a race engineering career in the USA in the IndyCar series. Over the next twenty years, Mike worked for teams such as Conquest Racing, Tasman Motorsports, Project Racing Group, Walker Racing, Target Chip Ganassi Racing, Finlay Motorsports, Spirit of Daytona Racing, BK Motorsports, and Rebel Rock Racing, in series as diverse as IndyCar, Champcar, ALMS, GrandAm, and IMSA.
Mike also spent six years heading up the Research & Development department at the Auto Research Center moving ground scale model wind tunnel in Indianapolis. While there, he performed the concept design on two projects that are now the subject of US patents:
